날씨표현을 알아보자!
어색한 사람과 같이 있을때 어떻게 대화를 시작하세요?
아마 생각만해도 쉽지 않은 시간인데요, 그러면 이런상황에서 대화를 시작하기에 가장 적당한 주제가 있다면 어떤게 있을까요? 바로 날씨에 관한 대화가 아닐까 싶습니다.
그래서 날씨에 관한 영어표현을 준비했습니다.
간단한 날씨표현으로 ‘small talk’를 어려움없이 준비해보세요.
날씨에 관한 질문:
- How’s the weather? or What’s it like out there?
- Is it hot or cold?
- Is it sunny?
- Is it raining?
- Beautiful day, isn’t it?
- What’s the weather forecast? (What is the weather expected to be like?)
날씨에 관한 대답:
- Today it is warm and sunny out.
- It’s so cold out there!
- The sun is very bright today. You might want to take sunglasses.
- It’s not raining, but it is cloudy.
- It is! I’m so happy the sun is shining.
- They’re saying blue skies and hot!
그밖에 날씨에 관한 표현들:
- below freezing
: 기온이 0도 이하의 추운 날씨를 의미합니다.
예문) It’s supposed to be below freezing today. I should wear my gloves.
- boiling hot
: 매우 더운 날씨를 의미하는 표현으로 우리식의 ‘찜통더위’와 비슷한 표현입니다.
예문) It was boiling hot, so we decided to stay inside.
- Breeze/ breezy
: 가벼운 바람을 의미합니다. Breezy는 형용사로 ‘가벼운 바람이 부는’의 의미입니다.
예문) Maybe you shouldn’t wear a hat, it’s breezy out today.
- Chilly
: 초가을 날씨를 떠올려보시면 좋을것 같은데요. 우리식의 ‘쌀쌀한’의 의미를 갖고 있습니다.
예문) I always wear a scarf when it’s chilly.
- Drizzling
: ‘보슬보슬 비가 내리는’ 이란 의미입니다.
예문) I don’t think you’ll need an umbrella, it’s only drizzling.
- Overcast
: ‘구름이 뒤엎인’ 날씨를 의미하는 말로 전형적인 구름덮인 영국 날씨를 표현할때 쓰면 좋을 것 같네요.
예문) The sky is overcast this morning, but the sun is supposed to come out later.
