어학연수를 마치고 카플란에서 커리어를 쌓아가는 Charles학생의 카플란 후기!

Charles, 29, from Brazil came to study at our Kaplan Covent Garden school to enhance his English skills and improve his life experience. His Kaplan Experience continued after graduating when he joined the Marketing team in London!

찰스는 29살의 나이로 브라질에서 카플란 코벤트 가든 학교로 어학연수를 왔었습니다. 영어를 배우는 목적도 있었지만 좀 더 폭넓은 경험을 하기 위해 오게 되었는데, 카플란과 인연이 되어 어학연수 코스를 마치고 런던 본사 마케팅팀에서 커리어를 쌓는 기회도 만들었습니다!

We asked Charles why he chose to study English in London and what the differences are between studying and working at Kaplan.

현재 카플란 마케팅팀에서 근무하는 찰스와의 인터뷰! 왜 어학연수 지역을 런던을 선택하였고, 카플란에서 어학연수부터 커리어까지 생생한 스토리!

Q : What did you do before studying at Kaplan?

Q: 카플란에서 공부하기 전에는 어떤 일을 하였나요?

Before studying at Kaplan, I lived and worked in the city of Curitiba, Brazil, as Marketing Analyst.

I had already graduated, and had been working for more than 5 years in the same company. I knew it would take a significant change to get a better position in my area. With that in mind I researched the process required to study English overseas.  The UK was my chosen destination and Kaplan seemed the best option to study.

저는 브라질 Curitiba 라는 도시에서 왔습니다. 거기서 쭉 Marketing Analyst 를 5년 동안 해왔었습니다. 더 괜찮은 포지션으로 진급할 기회가 될 시기에 어학연수를 택하게 된 것이죠. 영국을 가고 싶었고 영국의 수많은 어학연수 기관 중에서 카플란을 선택하게된 계기는 저에게 카플란이 가장 공부하기 좋은 조건인듯싶어서 선택했습니다.

Q : What was your goal before you started studying at Kaplan?

Q : 카플란에서 공부하기 전에 찰스씨의 목표는 무엇이었나요?

My goal was to improve my English language skills and gain life experience.

저의 목표는 영어 실력을 높이고 인생에서 많은 경험을 하는 것이었습니다.

Q : Why did you choose London as a location?

Q : 어떤 계기로 런던을 선택하게 되었나요?

I chose London because I think the city is amazing. There are so many things to see and to do all the time. I like the European culture. I have a French citizenship and it has helped me a lot with the decision to stay in England.

런던을 선택하게 된 가장 큰 이유는 런던이란 도시는 참 멋있잖아요.  정말 할 것들, 볼 것들이 널려 있는게 런던이라는 도시고,  또 결정적이었던 이유는 제가 프랑스 시민권을 가지고 있기때문에 이번 기회에 유럽 문화를 좀 더 제대로 경험하고 싶어서 런던을 선택하였습니다.

Q : What did you study at our Kaplan Covent Garden school? 

Q : Kaplan Covent Garden 에서 어떤 수업을 받았나요?

I studied Business English. I loved the course as I had a great teacher.

카플란 코벤트가든에서 비지니스 영어과정을 공부하였고, 정말 수업이 좋았어요. 선생님이 좋아서였는지 수업이 너무 좋았습니다.

Q : How did you find out about the internship?

Q : 카플란 본사 인턴쉽 구인은 어떻게 확인하셨나요?

It was a very interesting situation. I finished my course at Kaplan not long ago and after searching I found the job advertised on the Internet. I prepared my cover letter and my CV very carefully to apply for the job with conviction and faith.

제가 지원을 하게 된 스토리가.. 정말 재미있는 상황이었어요. Kaplan 에서 어학연수를 마치고 다시 구직을 해야되는 상황이어서 인터넷 검색을 하던 중 카플란 마케팅 팀에서 인턴을 뽑는 걸 보게되었죠. 이때다 싶어서 이력서를 정말 정성들여서 작성하고, 서류가 통과되고 인터뷰를 보게되고, 이 자리에 들어오게 되었어요.. 정말 운명같은 카플란과의 만남이었죠 :)

Q : How did you feel when you found out you had got the job?

Q : 인터뷰 통과가되고 카플란에서 합격통보를 받았을때 기분이 어땠나요?

It was awesome. That moment I realised I was making my own way and that I would achieve my dreams.

정말 짜릿했어요 :) 모든게 제 뜻대로 되는구나 하는 느낌도 있고 나의 길을 잘 가고 있구나.. 그런 생각도 들었구요.. :)

Q : What do you do at Kaplan?

Q : 카플란 본사에서 현재 어떤 업무를 하고 있나요?

I work in the Online Marketing Department at Kaplan. It is a wonderful experience and should be very good for my career progression.

현재 온라인 마케팅 부서에서 일하고 있습니다 :) 정말 저에게는 멋진 경험이고 저의 career path 에 좋은 영향을 미치리라 자부합니다.

Q : How is working in London different to studying in London?

Q : 런던에서 어학연수생으로 공부했을 때와 현재 직장인으로 일할 때의 차이점을 말해주세요! :) 

When you come to study in London, everything is new and intense. You take your first steps to introduce yourself into another culture and a different society. When you start to work in London, all this process has been achieved and it’s a completely different kind of learning. London is a very fast city, and it is necessary to work very hard.

런던에 어학연수로 처음 왔을때는 모든게 새로웠었죠. 항상 새로운 사람들을 만나 자기소개부터 시작해야되고.. 문화차이도 있었죠. 런던에서 일을 시작할때는, 이런 모든 역경들이랄까.. :) 그런부분이 다 지나가서 좀 더 편했죠 :) 그리고 완전히 다른 경험을 체험하기때문에 뜻 깊었죠! 매우 빠르고 런더너들 정말 일 열심히 하더라구요! :)

Q : What is your favorite thing about working at Kaplan?

Q : Kaplan 에서 일하면서 가장 좋은 점을 뽑자면?!

I see this position as a great opportunity to use and apply my knowledge and my creativity in Marketing projects here in the UK, and express this incredible experience that Kaplan Covent Garden has given me. I have all the help and understanding of my colleagues too.

일하면서 많은 지식을 습득하고 내가 가지고 있는 지식을 사용할 수 있는 기회라고 할수 있죠! 이런 모든 의미있는 기회를 준 카플란 코벤트가든에 매우 감사하구요 :)

Q : What piece of advice would you give to students who are going to start studying at Kaplan?

Q : 카플란에서 공부를 시작하는 학생들에게 조언한마디 해주세요!

I would say: Do not worry because you are in good hands. Enjoy every minute inside and outside the classroom with your friends – you will miss them for sure!

음.. 전 이렇게 말하고 싶습니다. " 걱정하지 마세요! 다 잘 될 거예요! 매 순간을 재밌게 보내고 ! 친구들과도 재밌는 어학연수 생활을 하세요! :) 어학연수가 끝나면 모든게 절실히 그리울거라고 장담하거든요! :)
